The Shield Meditation (as revealed by Kavi Yogiraj Mani Finger)
Your Shield protects you from all negative feelings that may come from outside of you (from others), and burns away all negativity existing inside of you (created by yourself). The meditation should be memorized. After thirty days of practicing this meditation without fail every day, your Shield will be firmly established, and can be called upon to surround you within seconds or in times of need. The ability to hate (or treat others negatively - on any level) as well as the ability to be hated, fades away. With even more practice your Shield will permanently surround you. With even more prolonged practice, your Shield can be compassionately “transmitted” to any person or persons to offer them protection from negativity. No possibility to misuse the Shield exists.
What follows now is the Shield Meditation…
Without back support, sit comfortably with your spine, neck and head in a straight line. Relax, and close your eyes. Sit very still for a few seconds. Then, very slightly, very gently and slowly, sway a little back and forth and from side to side. Suddenly, you will find a balance point and a centered feeling. Try not to move any more. It will be easier now.
Breathe in gently, hold gently, and breathe out. Try to feel the rhythm of breathing, and breathe as though you are breathing up and down the spine rather than in and out of your lungs. When you breathe in, follow the breath from the throat down to the base of the spine. Gently hold at the bottom, and then breathe out as though up the spine, and to the crown of the head.
When you get used to the feeling of the breath, attach the sound of “ha” (sounds like ‘hum’) to the inward breath (going down), and a “sa” to the outward breath (going up). These are long, soft sounds and they are actually the natural sounds made by the breaths, so instead of making them, listen for them until they become as natural as the breathing itself. Listen for other sounds as well, coming from your right ear, seemingly from inside of you rather than outside sounds. It can be a gently piercing, high-pitched sound, like a scraping, or like a jingle, or like static, or a hum sound.
Feel your spine. Feel as though it is becoming a strong magnet, pulling everything into it. All the time, listen for the sound in your right ear, and feel the breaths and the sounds they make. Get used to doing (and feeling) this for a few minutes.
Now, you have to change breath direction…
Starting from the base of your spine now, slowly breathe in the color red. Feel the strength of the color as it creeps up your spine with the breath, and fills your whole body and surroundings with a red hue. Breathe out red all the way to the crown of your head, and exist in this red world in you and all around you.
Now, in the same way, breathe in the color bright yellow. Feel the strength of the color as it creeps up your spine with the breath, and fills your whole body and surroundings with a yellow hue. Breathe out yellow all the way to the crown of your head, and exist in this yellow world in you and all around you.
Now, in a similar way, breathe in the color sky blue. Feel the strength of the color as it creeps up your spine with the breath, and fills your whole body and surroundings with a blue hue. Breathe out blue all the way to the crown of your head, and exist in this blue world in you and all around you. Imagine and feel this blue light streaming out of your belly button and out of your throat and out the top of your head like a lighthouse with bright, strong blue lights.
Finally, from the base of your spine, breathe in bright white light like that of the sun. Feel the heat, strength and power of the light as it creeps up your spine with the breath, and fills your whole body and surroundings with a light so bright that it almost hurts your eyes (though your eyes are closed). Breathe out this light all the way to the crown of your head, and exist in this world of light in and all around you as though you are the light.
Now, visualize the light shining out of you slowly forming an egg-shaped shell around you that has a color difficult to tell whether it is light or gold – a mix of the two colors.
This shell is your Shield. Be it, feel it, and hold on to it for as long as you can.
Feel a soft hand being placed on your head in Divine blessing. It transmits light through your head, down your spine to your spiritual heart (near the center of the chest, a little to the right). Visualize this heart as a bright light (like the sun) that transmits rays of light to all your surroundings and all the people that are dear to you (and those not), and fill everything and everybody with this Light.
Stay in this world of light until it fades by its own will, and consciousness returns again to your body and your world (you become aware of it again). Slowly and gently move your body a little to and fro. Open your eyes halfway and stare at the first object you see a few yards in front of you. Try not to blink, even though this may be difficult, because by not blinking, you seal in the consciousness of your experience so that the practice of this meditation is easier and more powerful next time. Blink when you have to, and slowly stretch out your body.
